VIENNA, VA — Even Vienna's fireworks show hasn't escaped the staffing shortages impacting various businesses industries around the U.S. The Town of Vienna announced its Fourth of July fireworks show will be moved to Friday, July 1 due to staffing challenges at the company providing the fireworks.

"As much as we were looking forward to celebrating on the 4th of July, the company that provides the fireworks show explained that a shortage of licensed pyrotechnic staff made it impossible to meet the demand for that day, and the company had to cancel multiple contracts, including ours," said Vienna Parks and Recreation Director Leslie Herman in a statement. "Rather than cancel the event altogether, we worked with the company to find an alternate date, and fortunately the U.S. Navy Concert Band was able to reschedule, too."

The 20-minute fireworks show will happen at 9:30 p.m. on July 1 at Yeonas Park. A performance by the U.S. Navy Concert Band will precede the fireworks at 8 p.m. Fireworks will be launched from Southside Park, but Yeonas Park will be open for viewing.
