Vienna's Approved Budget Includes Same Real Estate Tax Rate
Vienna's budget includes no increase to the real estate tax rate, water and sewer rate increases, police night shift pay and more.

VIENNA, VA — Town of Vienna taxpayers will pay the same tax rate under the new approved budget, but higher assessment values could make tax bills go up.
The $53.8 million budget adopted by Vienna Town Council Monday is an increase of about 7.5 percent, or $3.7 million over the current year's budget. The real estate tax rate, which Town of Vienna property owners pay on top of the Fairfax County real estate tax, will remain 19.5 cents per $100 of assessed value. This was the 12th consecutive year the tax rate has remained the same or gone down.
During the budget proposal, the town estimated the average tax bill would be $2,204, a 6.5 percent increase over the current budget.

The latest budget continues a trend of increasing water and sewer rates. The town attributed the 10 percent increase to water and sewer bills to operational cost increases from service providers Fairfax Water and the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority. The average annual water service bill will go up by $100.
Other areas addressed in the budget were balancing inflation-related cost increases with new construction tax revenue, pay increases for eligible employees, a night shift pay differential for police officers working overnight, and adding an after-hours information technology position to support the police, community center and other after-hours needs.
