The Madison Warhawks had a great showing by all sides of the ball on Thursday night at Westfield High School. Madison jumped out early scoring four goals in the first quarter before building a 7-2 lead going into halftime. The Warhawks' first five goals were all scored by different players and a total of six different players found the back of the net against a very good Westfield team.

Trenton Funn opened the scoring within the first two minutes of the first period, followed by goals from Casey Joseph (#8 in photo above), Timmy Palmer, and Greg Waldron. Peter Webb added two goals and Funn added another before he half. Madison scored two more goals in the third period, another by Palmer which was assisted by an outstanding pass to the left of goal from Josh Rhodes, his second of the game. Rhodes finished out the scoring near the end of the third period with a goal of his own.

Much of Madison's success can be attributed to time of possession throughout the game. The Warhawk's senior FOGO, Ben Passe (#14 pictured above), won 12 of 14 faceoffs to help Madison control the tempo throughout the game. Additionally, the defense locked down many of Westfield's scoring chances, in part by stopping seven "man-up" penalty chances by the Bulldogs. Any rally Westfield mounted, the Warhawks responded with great defensive coverage and goalie play until the final horn.
