Weekend Metro Shutdown To Affect NoVA Orange, Silver Line Riders
The shutdown between two Orange and Silver line stations will impact riders heading toward DC this weekend.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A weekend shutdown of Metrorail service between two stations will impact riders on the Orange and Silver Lines heading toward DC on Saturday and Sunday.
Metro will not provide service between the East Falls Church and Ballston stations on Saturday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 26 due to radio cable installation. Orange Line trains will run every 15 minutes between Vienna to East Falls Church and Ballston to New Carrollton. Free shuttle buses will transport riders between the East Falls Church and Ballston stations.
The Silver Line will only run between Wiehle-Reston East and East Falls Church every 15 minutes, so riders should use shuttle buses to continue onto the Orange Line in Ballston.

Other weekend impacts include the closure of the Shady Grove and Rockville stations on the Red Line. The two stations are closed from Sept. 11 to Dec. 4 due to the Rockville Canopy Replacement Project and other improvements. Free shuttle buses will be provided to riders.
On the Blue and Yellow Lines, trains will single tracking between National Airport and Braddock Road on Saturday and Sunday. Trains will run every 30 minutes due to Potomac Yard Metro Station construction.

The Green Line will have regular service.
As of Sept. 5, Metro introduced increased service and new discounts, including $2 one-way weekend fares regardless of distance and a a $2 transfer discount between Metrobus and Metrorail that covers the cost of regular Metrobus routes and a portion of express routes. Metro is also opening at 7 a.m. on Sundays instead of 8 a.m. and will stay open until 1 a.m. instead of midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Masks continue to be required in stations and on trains and buses due to a federal mandate.
