Worker Thwarts Shoplifting In Vienna: Crime Report
The watchful eye of an employee stopped shoplifters leaving with a cart full of stolen items.
Vienna Police responded to a variety of incidents the week of Feb. 15-21, including an attempted shoplifting at Giant Food.
The incident happened Feb. 14 between 1:30 p.m. and 1:48 p.m. A store employee reported two men filling a shopping cart with items and walking out without paying. When the employee confronted them, they left the cart and fled.
The employee reported the incident to police. No suspect descriptions were provided.

Between February 8 at 11:00 p.m. and February 9 at 9:00 a.m.
A resident left their vehicle parked in the driveway. When they returned to the vehicle, they found a tire had been damaged.

Grand Larceny 19-001851
400 Block Orchard Street, NW
Between February 18 at 7:00 p.m. and February 19 at 8:00 a.m.
A resident reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her purse.
Vehicle Tampering 19-001872
400 Block Orchard Street, NW
Between February 18 at 9:00 p.m. and February 19 at 4:00 p.m.
A resident reported that someone entered his two unlocked vehicles and rummaged through them. It appeared that only spare change was taken.
Crash - 300 Block Lawyers Road, NW 19-001894
February 20 1:38 p.m. Vehicle-1 (a Town of Vienna truck) was traveling southbound on Lawyers Road. Due to the hazardous road conditions from the weather, the driver lost control and struck a tree. No injuries were reported.
Crash - 1000 Block Cottage Street, SW 19-001896
February 20 2:08 p.m.
Vehicle-1 (a silver SUV) ran off the roadway, struck a town sign, drove through a front yard then left the scene without stopping.
