Man Killed As Shooting Breaks Out At Rural Fauquier County Party: Police

CATLETT, VA – A man is dead after shooting broke out at a large outdoor party in Fauquier County on Saturday night.

The Fauquier County Sheriff's Office reports that officers responded to a rural property on Bowery Lane in Catlett after receiving noise complaints and then reports of gunfire at an outdoor party. Deputies arriving on the scene heard continuous shooting and saw a crowd of people. While trying to locate the source of the gunfire, deputies say they witnessed a fight break out and heard a gunshot, then found a man with an apparent gunshot wound. That man has died, the department says.

Fauquier County deputies say law enforcement officers from multiple jurisdictions arrived to assist, and a shelter-in-place order was issued but has since been lifted. The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division says it is working to identify the shooter.
