Police Charge Woodbridge Man In Deadly Dale City Shooting

Prince William County police detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old Sunday morning.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County police detectives arrested a suspect Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old Sunday morning in Dale City.

Marquis Rene Whitmore, 19, of Woodbridge was arrested and charged with felony homicide and conspiracy to commit a felony in the death of Michael Bright Adom of Woodbridge. Whitmore, who is being held in jail without bond, has a Feb. 19 court date in the case.

On Sunday around 6:10 a.m., Prince William County police officers responded to the 4000 block of Westwind Dr. in Dale City to investigate a report of gunshots. Residents in the area told police that a large group of people were gathered in the area when the shots were fired.

"The investigation revealed that the victim and other acquaintances, including a man later identified as the accused, were in the above area when the victim was shot," the Prince William County Police Department said Thursday in a news release.

While investigating, officers were notified of a person who was brought to an area hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. The person, Adom, died later as a result of his injuries.
