Police Look For Suspect In Attempted Armed Robbery In Woodbridge

One of the suspects, identified as a 13-year-old male, was taken into custody without incident as police look for another suspect.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Prince William County police haved taken into custody one suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery that occurred in Woodbridge on Dec. 5 and have obtained warrants for a second suspect in the incident. The attempted robbery occurred in a Woodbridge parking lot in the 16600 block of Georgetown Road.

One of the suspects, identified as a 13-year-old male, was taken into custody without incident. Detectives from the Prince William County Police Department are attempting to locate the other suspect, identified as Michael Charles Talbert Jr. Both Talbert and the juvenile suspect are from Woodbridge. The police department said Dec. 19 that the investigation is continuing as detectives seek to identify other suspects involved in the incident.

During the attempted armed robbery, a 17-year-old male was struck with a handgun after he refused to hand over a pair of shoes to a person who allegedly had reneged on an agreement to purchase them. As the suspect was assaulting the 17-year-old, his gun went off, allowing the victim to flee the area and report the incident to a police station.

The 17-year-old arranged to sell the pair of shoes to an unknown man through various mobile communications. The boy, who was accompanied by a friend, agreed to meet the buyer at the Georgetown Road parking lot.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, while trying to conduct the sale, a burgundy vehicle pulled up and several unknown individuals surrounded the 17-year-old. After the assault and the discharge of the handgun, the suspects fled the scene without the shoes. The victim reported minor injuries.

Talbert is described as a black male, five-feet ten-inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The photo provided by the police department is from May 2019. Talbert is wanted for attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
