Search of Local Man's Home in Yorktown Turns Up Another Bomb

Neighborhood evacuated; Dale City resident faces new charges, says Prince William fire department.

A Dale City man is facing additional criminal charges after police, firefighters and a bomb squad found what was termed an “incendiary device” in a search of his home Monday in Yorktown.

Alan Michael Blischak (in photo), of 14341 Westway Lane #1F, is being held in jail without bond after Prince William County police, firefighters and other emergency personnel evacuated his Dale City apartment complex last week. They secured the scene and confiscated “numerous incendiary devices” from Blischak’s apartment, according to the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department.

On Monday, other police and firefighters evacuated the neighborhood around Blischak’s residence in Yorktown, in Virginia’s Tidewater region, before entering the home, according to the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department. In executing a search warrant, they found another incendiary device.

The search of the home, in the 3500 block of Hampton Way, involved the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, York County Fire and Life Safety, the Newport News Bomb Squad and a bomb-sniffing dog from the Virginia State Police. Personnel from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office also participated.

After Monday’s search, Blischak’s Yorktown home was rendered safe, the Prince William fire department said. Charges against him are pending in Yorktown.

Following last Thursday’s incident in Dale City, Blischak was charged with four counts of the manufacture, possession and use of fire bombs or explosive materials or devices, the Prince William fire department said.
