Proposed changes to density rules get pushback at Planning Commission meeting (gigharbornow.org) — Gig Harbor residents packed an Aug. 28 Planning Commission meeting to push back against proposed changes to city housing density, height limits, and hardscape rules that aim to meet state mandates for more affordable housing. City staff say Gig Harbor must add nearly 900 homes by 2044 and risks losing millions in state funding if it doesn't comply, while many locals fear losing the town's historic charm and character. 
2. Gig Harbor mansion featured in crime thriller listed for $8.9M (kiro7.com) — A sprawling 12,000-square-foot estate on Rosedale Street in Gig Harbor, once used as the main filming location for the crime thriller "Last Seen in Idaho," has hit the market for $8.9 million. The seven-bedroom, nine-bath home sits on 4.6 acres with resort-style amenities, including an indoor heated pool, casita, pool house, outdoor kitchen, and extensive parking.
3. Christian program spreads across PNW public schools (clarkcountytoday.com) — LifeWise, a Christian release-time program, is already pulling about 20 Peninsula School District elementary students out of class in Gig Harbor for Bible lessons, even as the superintendent says he'd rather kids stay in school all day. The fast-growing program is expanding across Washington and Idaho, sparking debate over church–state separation, recruitment tactics, and how much class time students should miss for religious instruction.
4. Dean Ancil Bert Blevins: 1933-2025 (edmondsbeacon.com) — Gig Harbor residents are mourning Dean Ancil Bert Blevins, a 91-year-old Navy veteran, educator, and longtime Edmonds coach who moved to Gig Harbor in 2019 to be closer to family. His life of service, teaching, and community involvement will be honored at a Celebration of Life on Sept. 13, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood.
