Pierce County 2020 August Primary: Congressional Election Results
Voters in Pierce County have been asked to help select four people to represent Washington in Congress.

PUYALLUP, WA — Polls have closed for the 2020 August primary election in Washington. This year's election contained a number of high profile races, determining who will make the cut to run for governor, state attorney general and secretary of state in the November election. It also included all 10 of Washington's seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, four of which represent voters in Pierce County.
Voters are also being asked to pick candidates in dozens of local legislative races. All 98 state House seats are up for grabs, and 26 of the state Senate's 49 seats are as well, meaning Tuesday's vote will have a significant impact on state politics.
Currently, Democrats hold a 57-41 majority in the House and a 28 - 21 lead in the Senate.

Now that the polls have closed, the first ballot drop for the August 2020 Primary Election has been released, and will be updated over the coming days.
In Washington, ballots are tabulated each day following the election, and percentages will continue to change in the days ahead. Results are final upon certification by the Secretary of State's office, due by Friday, Aug. 21.

The state's top-two primary system means the two candidates with the highest number of votes move on to November's general election, regardless of their party affiliation.
