Amazon Donates Giant Cactus Sent From Arizona In Bid For HQ2
The cactus was given to Amazon to convince the company to bring its HQ2 project to the Tucson, Ariz., area.

SEATTLE, WA - An Arizona economic development group sent Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos a giant 21-foot Saguaro cactus last week, which was meant to sway Amazon toward locating its new HQ2 campus in Southern Arizona. And although Amazon says it was a "really cool" gift, the company has decided to donate it to a museum.
"Unfortunately we can’t accept gifts (even really cool ones) so we donated it," Amazon said on Twitter Tuesday.
The cactus will go to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson. Sun Corridor Inc. sent the cactus to Bezos last Wednesday "in a bid to bring Amazon's highly-coveted second headquarters to Tucson and Southern Arizona - home to a million saguaros."

Amazon announced two weeks ago that it would begin accepting proposals for HQ2, which will be a campus the size of the company's Seattle headquarters in the South Lake Union neighborhood. Scores of cities are trying to woo Amazon, including Seattle - on Friday, former mayor Bruce Harrell signed an executive order directing the city's economic development department to put together a proposal for HQ2.
