1. WEEK AHEAD: Seattle Education Association contract vote (westseattleblog.com) — Seattle Public Schools teachers will vote Friday, September 11, on ratifying their new contract at a 5 p.m. meeting in McCaw Hall at Seattle Center. The tentative deal, which kept schools opening on time, reportedly includes salary increases slightly above the district's earlier 8.8% offer and a new 18‑month community process aimed at improving Special Education services.
   

2. Sound Transit Floating Bridge Light Rail Linked to Mass Fish Deaths in Lake Washington (lynnwoodtimes.com) — Sound Transit's new Crosslake Connection light rail line across Lake Washington, including the Judkins Park station in Seattle, is under investigation after about 2,000 fish were found dead near electrical equipment by the I‑90 floating bridge. Agencies say the bridge remains safe while they adjust the cathodic protection system and work toward a permanent environmental fix.
   

3. One night, two deadly shootings and an illegal street takeover (kiro7.com) — Two separate overnight shootings in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood left two people dead and several others wounded, with no arrests yet. One killing followed an illegal street takeover at 3rd and Clay near KIRO 7, and another happened six blocks away; police urge anyone with information to call the Violent Crimes Tip Line.
   

4. Seattle road rage driver cut by self-defense knife while trying to punch victim in face (komonews.com) — A road‑rage confrontation at Fourth Avenue North and Raye Street in Seattle turned violent Sunday afternoon when a driver allegedly punched another man through his open window. The victim used a knife in self‑defense, injuring the aggressor's arm; both remained at the scene, received medical aid, and police say assault charges will be filed against the suspected attacker.
   

5. Maddie Mercado scores lone goal as Seattle Reign beat Wave 1-0 (fox13seattle.com) — Seattle Reign supporters can celebrate a 1–0 win over the San Diego Wave, thanks to a first‑half header from Maddie Mercado and six key saves by goalkeeper Claudia Dickey. The Wave played short‑handed after an early red card, and Dickey later left with an injury, but Seattle held on for the shutout victory.
