Large 'Stand With Immigrants' Rally Sunday At Seattle's Westlake Park

After a large protest at Sea-Tac airport Saturday, activists plan to regroup for a rally Sunday night in Seattle.

SEATTLE, WA - Potentially thousands of protesters are planning to rally in support of immigrants and refugees Sunday night in downtown Seattle's Westlake Park.

The "Stand With Immigrants!" rally kicks off at 5 p.m. at Westlake. According to the rally's Facebook event page, thousands of people are expected to attend. By Sunday morning, over 7,000 had indicated they would attend, and another 16,000 said they were interested in attending.

The event organizers - the group Americans For Refugees and Immigrants - are saying that the group will march through downtown Seattle Sunday night after the rally. They are urging attendees to remain peaceful throughout the march, and to be on guard for potential problems.

"Throughout the course of tomorrow, please remember to be aware of your surroundings. If you see any arguments or tensions rising, please do your best to de-escalate or leave the situation. Our priority is to keep the event and attendees safe. Remember to clean up any trash you leave," the group wrote in an update Saturday night.

Thousands of protesters converged on Sea-Tac airport on Saturday night to protest President Donald Trump's recent executive orders, one of which bans people from seven African and Middle Eastern countries from coming to the U.S. At least six people were stopped at Sea-Tac under the order, and four of them were put on planes back to where they originally flew from.
