WA Liquor Board Relaxes Rules Allowing Alcohol Delivery, Pickup

Washington's liquor board has relaxed rules allowing restaurants to deliver alcohol during the coronavirus outbreak.

SEATTLE, WA — Alcohol can now be delivered or picked up curbside for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak. The state liquor and cannabis board says that in order to make social distancing easier, it is allowing restaurants with active liquor licenses to sell alcohol on the go.

There are still some restrictions upon what alcohol can and cannot be sold this way. For one, any alcohol a restaurant sells for pickup has to be factory sealed in kegs, bottles or cans. Delivery sales are given a little more leeway and can include non-factory sealed growlers, jugs or smaller containers. However wine bottles, spirit bottles and beer kegs holding more than four gallons of liquid still must remain sealed.

For both alcohol delivery and pickup, customers must also order food alongside their drinks. In Seattle, parking restrictions have changed to make curbside pickup easier at select restaurants.
