Magnitude 4.2 Earthquake Strikes Near Seattle
The earthquake struck about 30 miles west of Seattle around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

SEATTLE, WA - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 struck Wednesday night 30 miles west of Seattle along the western edge of the Kitsap Peninsula.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported that residents as far west as Seattle and as far south as Olympia felt the quake. There was no danger of a tsunami, the National Weather Service reported.
