The decision, fallout from the Bite of Seattle shooting, comes amid recall efforts, business criticism, and ongoing debate over crime trends as the city searches for a new permanent chief.
   

4. WSP investigating after video of car driving across bridge on I-90 Trail goes viral (mynorthwest.com) — A viral video of a car speeding along the I-90 Trail, which links Seattle and Bellevue and is meant only for cyclists and pedestrians, has prompted a Washington State Patrol investigation. WSDOT says it's reviewing the incident and may add new safety mitigations on the trail that starts just south of downtown Seattle in Rainier Valley.
   

5. UW Medical Center staffer ordered released from ICE detention (seattletimes.com) — A UW Medicine staffer living in the Seattle area has been ordered released from ICE detention after a federal judge ruled his stroke risk made continued confinement too dangerous. The Kenyan immigrant, who works at UW Medical Center and supports a disabled partner, highlights growing concerns about immigration arrests from Lynnwood streets to Sea‑Tac Airport, even for people with pending asylum cases and community ties.
