Speaking at the Westin Seattle, he highlighted employers' outsized role in the city budget and backed a new 100‑day public safety push aimed at protecting downtown workers, residents, and visitors.
   

4. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson to Unveil New Gun Violence Prevention Strategy (news-usa.today) — After multiple deadly shootings around Belltown over Labor Day weekend, Seattle's mayor plans to unveil a comprehensive gun violence prevention strategy focused on community intervention, deterrence, and targeted safety investments. The city is boosting patrols in high-crime areas, adding staff for prevention work, and coordinating with state and regional partners to keep guns off Seattle streets while homicides trend lower overall.
   

5. Bree Black Horse '13 first Native American named to Yakima County bench (seattleu.edu) — A Seattle-connected legal leader, Bree Black Horse, has been appointed to the Yakima County Superior Court, becoming the county's first Native American judge. She directs Seattle University School of Law's Central Washington Hybrid Hub and previously practiced at a Seattle firm, earning statewide recognition for her work on Native American legal issues and community service.
