Seattle's Highest-Rated Japanese Restaurants

If you're in the mood for sushi, you've come to the right place.

SEATTLE, WA - It's no secret that the Puget Sound region is a great place for fresh seafood, which also is part of why it's ideal for Japanese cuisine. From perfectly prepared sashimi to tasty bowls of ramen, you have plenty to look forward to. Here are the top five rated Japanese restaurants in Seattle according to Yelp.

  1. Sushi Kashiba: This downtown establishment receives high marks for its fresh tuna, salmon, scallops and more. One reviewer said using sauces isn't even necessary because of the expert preparation of the sushi.
  2. Shiro's: In Belltown, this is a popular destination for high-quality fish. Diners recommend the omakase menu (or chef's menu). One delighted eater raved: "I think it was even better than the sushi I had in Japan!"
  3. Nishino: Along with the sushi and sashimi, diners recommend this Washington Park restaurant's sake list. One satisfied customer said: "Nishino is an upscale Japanese restaurant that still feels comfortable, family oriented and doesn't have a pretentious vibe."
  4. Mashiko Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar: Diners love the careful preparation and presentation at this West Seattle hot spot. One reviewer sums it up: "Mashiko is slap yo mama delicious."
  5. Wataru: From Japanese urchin to lemon-infused scallops, Ravenna's Wataru does it all. Be prepared though - one reviewer said she had to book a month in advance to book a spot for omakase at the bar, but she said "it was SO worth it."
