Frigid conditions are expected to linger, with sub-freezing temperatures forecast both Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Icy roads proved problematic Monday night, after approximately 30 vehicles were involved in crashes on the State Route 520 floating bridge between Bellevue and Seattle. The Tuesday morning commute could present similar hazards in many areas.

Gusty winds are forecast to persist through Tuesday, and wind chills in the mid-teens — and lower in Whatcom County — were expected Tuesday morning.
Another lowland snowstorm is forecast to arrive Wednesday evening, with enhanced snowfall totals expected across the Kitsap Peninsula. Early indications show strong easterly winds could limit snow along the I-5 corridor and Cascade foothills, but the potential for convergence zone bands could lead to higher accumulation in other lowland areas. NWS Seattle said Wednesday's snowfall was likely to be dense, leading to an increased risk of tree damage and power outages.
Stevens Pass remains closed indefinitely after Sunday night's snowstorm brought several trees and powerlines down between Gold Bar and the summit.
