SEATTLE, WA — Seattle police have released video of the deadly encounter Wednesday between a domestic violence suspect and police officers. Per department police, Seattle police typically release video of an officer-involved shooting within 72 hours.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday at a building along 3rd Avenue West near Mercer Street. A woman in the apartment called 911 to report that her boyfriend was threatening her with a knife, which she described as a 4-inch switchblade.

"My boyfriend is trying to kill me," the woman says on a 911 call also released Wednesday. "He keeps telling me he's going to kill me and he has a knife out.

The video shows police kick through the door of the apartment with their guns drawn, and then order the man to show his hands. The man moves slowly toward the officers, does not show his hands, and that's when they open fire. Only a few seconds pass between when police see the man and when they open fire.

The woman was not hurt during the shooting, but she did tell a 911 dispatcher that her boyfriend had tackled her. She was locked in a bathroom at the time of the shooting.

The Queen Anne incident was the third deadly shooting involving a Seattle officer since Dec. 31. A fourth man was shot and wounded by police during an incident on Capitol Hill in late March. The 20-year-old fired on officers, police said, during a confrontation along Melrose Avenue.

The Seattle police force investigation team and the King County Sheriff's Office are conducting separate investigations into the Queen Anne shooting.
