White Nationalist Stickers Left On Chinatown-ID Businesses

SPD's Bias Crimes Unit is investigating after three men left threatening hate messages targeting Asian-American business

SEATTLE, WA — The Seattle Police Department's Bias Crimes Unit has been called in after a group of men reportedly placed threatening messages on several businesses in the Chinatown-International District.

According to police, witnesses saw three men wearing face coverings and dark sunglasses prowling through the district on April 12. The men plastered several businesses with "jingoistic stickers" and appeared to be part of a white nationalist hate group. Officers say they believe the men were specifically targeting Asian-American-owned Businesses.

When officers arrived the collected the stickers as community members scraped them off the sides of buildings. They are now investigating and hoping to track down the men.

Seattle police say they've seen a spike in recent weeks of reports of hate crimes targeting Asian-Americans. They say they're taking all these concerns seriously and are asking anyone who believes they have been the victim of a hate crime to call 911.
