Officials stress the project is meant for everyday "organic" demand, not big data centers, and say the existing Malaga substation is already nearing planning thresholds. Commissioners are set to consider approving the deal on Sept. 21, a decision that could shape power reliability for Wenatchee-area neighborhoods and businesses.
   

4. Climb for Cats fundraiser to benefit Wenatchee Valley Humane Society (ncwbusiness.com) — A new Climb for Cats fundraiser in Wenatchee on Sept. 20 will send half of Riverfront Rock Gym's day-pass sales to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society's Save A Tiny Life kitten campaign. Families can climb, meet adoptable kittens, and support care for hundreds of local kittens needing foster or permanent homes across Chelan and Douglas counties.
   

5. 2 Armenian students interning with NCWLIFE (ncwlife.com) — Two journalism graduate students from Armenia are spending three weeks interning with NCWLIFE and the Wenatchee World, getting a close-up look at how local newsrooms operate. They've already shadowed a reporter on assignment at Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort outside Wenatchee and say the scenery, helpful residents, and hands-on training are shaping how they'll approach journalism back home. Their visit also highlights Wenatchee's growing ties to international education programs.
