Meet the City of Charleston worker who saved a woman during the Garrison Ave. flood (wvpress.org) — A Charleston Streets Department worker is being credited with saving a woman swept away in her car during Sunday's severe flooding on Garrison Avenue, after more than 4 inches of rain fell at Yeager Airport. He jumped into chest-high water, pulled her from the vehicle, kept her calm on a nearby porch, then worked a 24‑hour shift helping the city recover.
   

2. UPDATE: Four people dead following I-77 crash, investigation underway (wsaz.com) — Four people were killed late Friday night when a car went over a barrier near the I-64/77 split in Charleston and crashed into the Martin Marietta Charleston Yard on Pennsylvania Avenue. Charleston police and firefighters responded just before 11 p.m., and investigators with the Charleston Police Department are still working to determine what caused the single-vehicle wreck.
   

3. Governor Morrisey announces more than $1 million in care program investments for older West Virginians (wvnstv.com) — Announced from Charleston, Governor Patrick Morrisey is directing more than $1 million to expand community-based care programs that help older West Virginians remain in their homes. The Rural Health Transformation Program funding will support new PACE-style day centers offering medical care, medication management, and social activities aimed at reducing hospital visits and easing burdens on family caregivers.
   

4. West Virginia fishing record broken for third time in little more than a month (wvexplorer.com) — Charleston readers might be surprised to learn a brand-new West Virginia fishing record has already been broken three times in just six weeks. Anglers from Morgantown and Beverly keep leapfrogging each other with ever-larger pumpkinseed sunfish, highlighting how this colorful little species has suddenly become the focus of a friendly statewide competition. 5. Tony Gregory named interim president and CEO of WV Hospital Association (wvnews.com) — From Charleston, the West Virginia Hospital Association has named longtime legislative affairs vice president Tony Gregory as interim president and CEO while it conducts a national search for a permanent leader. The move aims to ensure continuity as the group continues advocating for hospitals, health systems, and healthcare policy across the state.
