Victims of fatal accident in Charleston near I-77/I-64 split identified (wvnstv.com) — Charleston police have identified the four people killed in Friday night's crash on I-77 near the I-77/I-64 split, where a vehicle hit a barrier and fell into a lot off Pennsylvania Avenue. Charleston Police and Fire crews pronounced all four occupants dead at the scene, and the department's Crash Investigation Unit is still working to determine exactly what happened.
   

2. Public comment period opens for West Virginia Military Hall of Fame (wowktv.com) — State officials are inviting public comments right now on rules that will guide the West Virginia Military Hall of Fame, with mail-in feedback directed to a Kanawha Boulevard address in Charleston. Residents can weigh in on how veterans are nominated, which valor awards qualify, and how inductees are recognized before rules are finalized after Sept. 11.
   

3. 'Cirque Dreams Holidaze' returns to Charleston in December (wowktv.com) — Charleston families can look forward to Cirque Dreams Holidaze returning to the Clay Center on Dec. 16, bringing acrobatics, live music, and a holiday storyline set in the fantastical world of "Holidaze." Tickets for the 7 p.m. performance go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, through the Clay Center website and box office, with group options available.
   

4. Morrisey appoints Kessinger as Tourism secretary (theintermountain.com) — West Virginia's new Tourism Secretary, Kayla Kessinger, was introduced at the Capitol in Charleston and will lead a department credited with driving tourism's $9 billion statewide impact. Her background includes legislative work, pro-life nonprofit leadership, and helping plan July's four-day Capitol City Celebration in Charleston, signaling continued focus on promoting the state's outdoor and cultural attractions.
   

5. West Virginia man convicted of coercing minor in Mississippi (wjtv.com) — A man from Charleston has been convicted in federal court in Mississippi of coercing a 15-year-old there into sexual activity using online messages and travel. The jury found him guilty on two charges, and he now awaits a December sentencing that could bring at least 10 years and up to life in prison.
