1. State Transportation Secretary reports more signage, barrier assessment coming to elevated Charleston interstate (wchsnetwork.com) — State transportation officials are planning new signage, pavement markings, and barrier reflectors on the elevated I-64 corridor through Charleston, including the Eugene A. Carter Memorial Bridge. After several serious crashes, they're also contracting a study on whether higher barriers can be safely added to the aging structures, aiming to improve safety before major rehabilitation work begins next year.
   

2. Ascend WV to celebrate one year in the Charleston area (wowktv.com) — Charleston is marking one year of the Ascend WV remote-worker program, which has already brought more than 100 new residents to the Kanawha Valley. City leaders will celebrate the "ascenders" at Capitol Market, highlighting how the initiative is boosting Charleston's population, families, and quality of life with newcomers from 29 states and two countries.
   

3. Ella Langley Stops Concert After Spotting Young Fan's Adorable Sign (925xtu.com) — A recent Ella Langley concert at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center turned unforgettable for one young fan when the singer stopped the show to invite her onstage. The two performed together as the crowd cheered, and video of the Charleston moment is now spreading online, giving locals a sweet glimpse of the rising country star's tour stop here.
   

4. 11 puppies found wandering on roadway (wsaz.com) — A litter of 11 underweight puppies was rescued from Paint Creek Road and is now being treated and cared for at the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association in Kanawha County. After a short monitoring period and deworming, they're expected to be ready for local adoption, while State Police continue investigating how they were abandoned.
   

5. W.Va. Department of Transportation to improve construction project dashboard (wsaz.com) — Drivers in Charleston should soon see safety upgrades at the I-64/I-77 split, where the state plans high-friction pavement and more reflectors to reduce serious crashes. State transportation leaders also pledged to improve their online construction dashboard so residents can better track major projects, costs, and timelines, while explaining how flooding and permitting delays have slowed some ongoing work.
