Premier Fitness Brand D1 Training Launches First Martinsburg Location

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (May 13, 2026) –D1 Training, a leading fitness enrichment concept utilizing the five core tenets of athletic-based training, will be opening a new location in Martinsburg at 283 Langston Boulevard on May 25. The new group fitness facility employs a sports-science backed training regimen led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals. To celebrate, D1 Training will host a grand opening celebration on June 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., welcoming the community to tour the facility, meet the trainers, and learn more about its specialized training programs.

The new D1 Training Martinsburg is owned and operated by local entrepreneurs and existing D1 franchisees Shawn and Wendy Twigg. They were inspired to bring D1 Training to Martinsburg after seeing the impact the brand has had in communities across the country and learning more about its connection to leaders like Tim Tebow. They were particularly drawn to D1’s approach to both physical and mental development in athletes of all ages, focusing on building strong character, discipline, and meaningful relationships.

Shawn and Wendy are excited to bring D1 Training to the Martinsburg community and create a space where athletes of all ages can train, grow, and reach their goals. This location marks their second D1 opening, with plans to expand to six total locations. The 6,200-square-foot facility is expected to create 10 to 12 local jobs and serve as a community-driven hub for athletes to connect and develop both on and off the field.

Twigg is part of a roster of impressive existing franchisees, including former professional and collegiate athletes. Additional D1 partners include NBA star Chris Paul and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.

D1 Training offers four age-based programs including Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers group, semi-private, and one-on-one training with world-class coaches. The goal is simple: to continue to train athletes who are dedicated to their sport or fitness goals, regardless of age, or athletic background.
