Wisconsin Coronavirus: 3,200 Confirmed Cases, 137 Dead

State health officials said nine people died from the new coronavirus between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon.

MILWAUKEE, WI — The new coronavirus continues to spread across Wisconsin. At least nine people died due to complications from COVID-19 between Friday and Saturday afternoon. State health officials said 137 Wisconsin residents have died since the outbreak began.

By Saturday afternoon, there were 3,213 confirmed cases of COVID-19 throughout Wisconsin. There have been 950 hospitalizations related to the virus.

Since the outbreak began, health officials have received 34,680 negative results on COVID-19 tests.

Wisconsin residents who identify as black have made up 44 percent of the state's deaths and 26 percent of the state's confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to data from the health department.

"COVID-19 is making more visible the health disparities that already exist in our state," Department of Health Secretary Designee Andrea Palm said Friday. "We must work to end those disparities."
