Woman Who Fled Standoff, Stabbed K9 Officer Arrested: Report
Kalin Sunde, who was previously seen on video being held at gunpoint, is now accused of stabbing a police K9 and fleeing police.

WAUKESHA, WI — A woman accused of stabbing a Waukesha County Sheriff's police dog during a June 2019 standoff on I-94 has been arrested after she went on the run, authorities say. Kalin Sunde's latest arrest came months after she was part of a standoff and a livestreamed video apparently showing her being held at gunpoint before she allegedly stabbed a Waukesha County K9 and was apprehended — only to flee again last week while out on bond, police said.
On Thursday night, authorities in Waukesha County issued a public bulletin, saying, "The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to inform the public that Kalin Sunde has been apprehended tonight in the City of Milwaukee." Officials credited the Milwaukee Police Department and United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force with helping apprehend Sunde.
I-94 Incident
It was just before 5 p.m. June 4 when, according to a WISN-TV report, an employee at a local business said their office was asked to shelter in place due to a high-speed chase involving a man with a gun.

Authorities issued an emergency alert, advising motorists to steer clear of a stretch of I-94 between Highways F and P in Waukesha County. A flood of eyewitness videos began pouring into social media, including one that showed law enforcement officers throwing out spike strips in an attempt to disable a fleeing gray minivan.
A deputy responding to the saw the gray minivan and a man behind the wheel pointing a firearm at the deputy. The deputy then fired at the suspect, later identified as Nathan Halfmann, authorities said.

During a press conference, Sheriff Eric Severson said the suspect then called the Waukesha County Communications Center, demanding to speak with a negotiator, and claiming that he was holding Sunde hostage. Severson said the man refused to surrender for more than five hours, eventually prompting police to deploy tear gas
Deputies reported seeing the suspect flee the van with Sunde being held at gunpoint. Severson said two tactical officers fired at Halfmann, hitting him twice.
Halfmann, who was in critical condition following the shooting, survived and faces seven charges:
- Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, repeater
- Intentionally pointing a firearm at a person, repeater
- Operating a vehicle without consent -- passenger, repeater
- Fail to comply with officer.person into custody, repeater
- Intentionally point firearm at person, repeater
- Theft of movable property -- special facts, repeater
Halfmann is being held on $100,000 bond and has his next court appearance is set for Sept. 26.
Severson said Sunde then fled police, ignoring deputies commands to stop, struggling with officers and then stabbing sheriff K9 officer Justice, causing significant injuries to the dog.
Severson said the dog was transported to an emergency vet for treatment, and is in recovery.

Sunde reportedly recorded video from inside the minivan and streamed it via Facebook Live, police said.
In one of the videos Sunde recorded, she can be heard saying, "He has a gun. He’s going to blow my brains out." Another person, apparently a police negotiator, can also be heard speaking in some of Sunde's videos.
Latest arrest
According to a FOX-6 report, Sunde, who had been out on bond, missed a drug screening on Aug. 23, then missed a court date in Milwaukee three days later.
Authorities learned Sunde cut off her GPS monitoring device and went on the run.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office did not say when or where Sunde was apprehended in Milwaukee.
She faces several felony charges.
