📰 News we're reading

• Your Sunday, Sept. 20 Guide: Two things to do in the Oil City (oilcity.news) — Casper residents have two big options today: high-speed MHA Indian Relay Races at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds at 2 p.m., and The Great Mountain Mingle at Hogadon Lodge on Casper Mountain from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both events promise live entertainment, food, and a chance to connect with neighbors without leaving the Casper area.

• UW CALSNR announces departmental honors (wylr.net) — A University of Wyoming agriculture student from Casper, David Kienzle, has been named a Gilman Scholar, highlighting local talent in a highly competitive study-abroad program. The broader roundup also showcases UW students and faculty earning major research grants, awards, and fellowships that strengthen Wyoming's agriculture, biodiversity, and outdoor recreation sectors, reflecting opportunities and prestige connected to students from communities like Casper.

• WGFD offers outlook for small, upland game this hunting season (wylr.net) — Hunters around Casper should expect fewer gray partridge and chukar this fall, while sage grouse numbers are stable but likely to dip after low poult production. Wyoming Game and Fish says wild turkeys and blue grouse still offer good opportunities in the Casper Region, with average prospects for ruffed and sharp-tailed grouse elsewhere in the state.
