Maryland Governor Larry Hogan ordered the United States and Maryland flags to be lowered to half staff Wednesday, May 10, to honor a Maryland soldier who died in Afghanistan while serving in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

No Parole For Bishop Who Killed Cyclist
The defrocked bishop who killed a bicyclist when she was drunk driving in 2014 must serve her full sentence, sources say. The parole commission denied early release for Heather Cook, who in 2014 became the first female Episcopal bishop in Maryland. She is serving seven years for the deadly hit-and-run and reportedly showed no remorse.
