1. Meet Edward (advertisergleam.com) — A friendly mixed-breed dog named Edward is waiting for adoption at the Marshall County Animal Shelter on Abbott Road in Albertville. Locals can visit the shelter daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to meet him and other pets, all of which are wormed, spayed or neutered, and vaccinated against rabies before going to new homes.
   

2. New treatment option for Alzheimer's increases access for rural Alabamaians (whnt.com) — Albertville residents now have access to a new at-home injection form of the Alzheimer’s drug LEQEMBI, offered through Marshall Neurology Center. Local physician Dr. Johnny Watts says the pen-style treatment can spare rural patients long drives for infusions and may help slow memory decline, giving families more time together and more practical treatment options close to home.
   

3. County Commission – October named Beef Month (advertisergleam.com) — Marshall County leaders have packed a lot into their latest meeting, from proclaiming October as Beef Month to approving a film project at the Albertville Courthouse and advancing construction on the new jail. They also expanded solid waste fee exemptions for veterans’ households, approved new subdivisions and road changes, and secured Rebuild Alabama grant funds for a major local road project, all affecting residents countywide.
   

4. Marshall County grand jury indicts Albertville man on murder charge in shooting death of Olga Rosalva Rios (rocketcitynow.com) — An Albertville man has been indicted by a Marshall County grand jury on a murder charge in the shooting death of Olga Rosalva Rios at a home on Martling Road. Court records show he remains jailed under Aniah’s Law with no bond set yet, and no trial date has been scheduled, so residents can expect this case to move slowly through the local courts.
   

5. New Mr. and Ms. UAB 2027 are Jason Mbila and Morgan Bias (uab.edu) — An Albertville native, UAB student Brayan Castro, has been named a finalist in the university’s long-running Mr. and Ms. UAB Scholarship Competition. While the top titles went to students from other Alabama cities, Castro’s recognition highlights local representation in a major campus leadership and scholarship program that rewards academic excellence and community involvement.
