July Is Full Of Festivals In Birmingham

The month of July features some fantastic music festivals throughout the Birmingham area.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Any music lover who cannot find a music event in Birmingham this July simply isn't looking hard enough. The month features a variety of music festivals taking place throughout the metro area, with a little something for fans of any genre.

July 6, one of Birmingham's best music venues is hosting DESKovered, an event featuring live music from the NPR's Tiny Desk Contest entrants from Birmingham. Saturn, located in the Avondale district, will host the four-band event which includes music from The Old Paints, Jacobs McBride, Weird Around Strangers and Early James & The Latest. The event starts at 8 p.m., and admission is $12. The show is an 18+ event.

July 14 and 15, what has become Birmingham's premier music festival takes place at Sloss Furnaces downtown. Sloss Fest, entering its fourth year, has put together a world-class music festival featuring local, regional and international artists. Headliners include Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Chris Stapleton, Griz, Arcade Fire, Moon Taxi, The War on Drugs, St.Paul & The Broken Bones, Vance Joy and more. A weekend pass is $130.

July 21 features an event at Avondale Brewing Co. with some of Birmingham's finest local bands. Radio! Radio! begins at 4 p.m. and includes live music, the Birmingham Punk Rock Flea Market, DJ sets by Seasick Records, local vendors and prize giveaways. Bands performing include Nerves Baddington, Holiday Gunfire, Terry Ohms, HUMAN BEAT, Holy Youth and Ryan Sobb. All ages are welcome, and tickets are $10.
