New ShopWell storefront in Springville to create jobs for human trafficking survivors
Store to benefit local nonprofit
SPRINGVILLE, Ala. — One of the largest residential programs in the country dedicated to serving women who have been trafficked or sexually exploited operates right here in Alabama. The WellHouse has spent years providing safe housing, restoration and long-term support to survivors — and now it is expanding that mission.
ShopWell is more than a store — it is an employment program where survivors gain job skills, earn income and build confidence as they move toward sustainable independence.
The new storefront will feature:

- Products from 30 freedom-based businesses
- A coffee shop where every purchase supports survivor employment
- A candle-making studio for hands-on experiences and private parties
- Thriftique, featuring “like new, with tags” brand-name clothing, shoes and bags
Every detail of the space carries meaning. The building was fully gutted and renovated by survivors, creating not just a place of business but a symbol of restoration, resilience and new beginnings.
The WellHouse continues to see significant impact across its programs. According to its most recent annual report, dozens of women are served each year through residential and outreach programs.
