Record 849 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed In Alabama
Alabama reached a record-high 849 new COVID-19 cases in one day, and confirmed deaths two patients under 20 years old.
MONTGOMERY, AL — Alabama set a record for the number of new COVID-19 cases recorded in one day, as 849 new cases of the virus were confirmed Wednesday. As well, the state has now reached 750 deaths from COVID-19.
The state total is now at 22,474 cases with 750 deaths. In all, 278,455 tests have been administered in the state. A presumed 13,508 COVID-19 patients have recovered after testing positive for the virus.
Also Wednesday, the Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed that an infant and a teenager died from the virus. These were the first fatalities for COVID-19 patients under 25 since the pandemic began.

Nearly 6,000 of the state's total cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the last two weeks. In the last month, the number of deaths from COVID-19 has more than doubled, as the fatality total May 8 was at 360.

Of the 750 deaths, 79 percent are people over the age of 65, but that age group only makes up 20 percent of the total cases of the virus.

- June 1: 330 new cases
- June 2: 201 new cases
- June 3: 213 new cases
- June 4: 301 new cases
- June 5: 640 new cases
- June 6: 455 new cases
- June 7: 430 new cases
- June 8: 488 new cases
- June 9: 562 new cases
- June 10: 849 new cases
