Riot Charges Dropped Against Jermaine 'Funnymaine' Johnson

Local comedian Jermaine "Funnymaine" Johnson was charged with inciting a riot in downtown Birmingham. Those charges have been dropped.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Local comedian Jermaine "Funnymaine" Johnson was charged with inciting a riot after he suggested at a Black Lives Matter rally May 31 that protesters should tear down a Confederate monument in Linn Park, but those charges have been dropped. A Birmingham Times report said police dropped the charges Wednesday.

Johnson, who rose in popularity a few years ago for a series of YouTube videos on Alabama football, appeared in Birmingham Municipal Court Wednesday where the city of Birmingham dismissed the charges, according to the Birmingham Times.
