SlossFest No More: Music And Arts Festival Calls It Quits
After a four-year run, and amidst criticism over this year's festival, the producers of SlossFest have decided to discontinue the festival.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Rumors had been swirling around Birmingham since the conclusion of the 2018 Sloss Music and Arts Festival that the festival may not continue - especially after a large portion of the festival was canceled due to weather - and the organizers of the festival have confirmed that rumor Friday.
"After several weeks of examination and thorough consideration of the unique challenges we face in producing Sloss Fest, we have come to the decision to end the event" the festival producers issued in a statement on social media. "This decision was not made lightly and the team of people behind this festival are as disappointed as anyone. It has been a labor of love and we are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish during our four-year run."

As hundreds of festival-goers were made to huddle under a viaduct due to lightning in the area, minutes turned to hours as people were left to wonder what the festival organizers were going to do. The festival was billed as a "rain or shine" event, which gave the impression that it would not be cancelled due to weather. This left the hoards of music fans - who paid anywhere between $130 to $500 to attend the festival - less than pleased.
As well, festival-goers were told by organizers to keep up with the status of the festival via a festival app, but wi-fi was spotty at the festival site, if not completely unavailable.
