A gruesome murder in Roebuck has resulted in persons of interest, a lawyer improvises a flash mob in ATL, and more headlines from the week.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The double homicide in Roebuck that claimed the lives of Mary and Steve Holt has been one of the most discussed crimes of the year thus far, and authorities are now questioning some suspects in the case. That story dominated the headlines for Birmingham and the area this past week, but it certainly was not the only news-making story of the week.

Two suspects who were arrested on theft of property charges in South Florida Friday are being questioned by investigators with the Birmingham Police Department in connection with the gruesome murder of Roebuck couple Mary and Steve Holt. The case has received national attention after police discovered the Holts when their three-year-old granddaughter led police to the bloody crime scene.

Birmingham attorney Lindsay Eastwood had a great idea to welcome her husband back to the U.S. from overseas. She planned a flash mob at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday to greet him. However, her new husband's flight was canceled.

Couple Involved In Police Standoff Charged With Hoover Crime

A married couple involved in a four-hour standoff with police Tuesday in Roebuck have been charged with an ATM theft in Hoover. Jason Alan Shafer, 42, and Stacy Mae Morris Shafer, 33, both were taken into custody in the 100 block of 93rd Street North in Birmingham and taken to the Hoover Jail where they were charged in connection with the theft of an ATM from the Walgreen's on Ross Bridge Parkway in Hoover in July.

Project To Extend Cahaba Beach Road Draws Criticism

A public information session held by the Alabama Department of Transportation at Liberty Park Middle School in Vestavia Hills Tuesday regarding a proposal to expand Cahaba Beach Road across the Little Cahaba River drew hundreds of people - most of whom were critical of the plan.

Sexual Abuse Charges Against Pinson Teen Dismissed

A teen from Pinson who was arrested in June by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and charged with sexual torture has had those charges dismissed.
