Dothan commissioners split over SmartBank tax incentive deal (wtvy.com) — Dothan and Houston County leaders have approved tax incentives worth about $460,000 to bring SmartBank’s second local branch to a long-vacant, contaminated corner at Cherokee and Main. Commissioners are split, with supporters citing new jobs and redevelopment and opponents warning the city is giving away needed revenue for roads and infrastructure when the project might have happened anyway.

2. Dothan earns designation as Alabama Main Street Community (wdhn.com) — Dothan’s downtown has just been officially designated a Main Street Alabama community, unlocking new grant opportunities and expert support to keep revitalization moving. Local leaders say the honor, earned after a year-long application process, will help fund improvements, attract more businesses, and build on projects like Porter Park Plaza and opera house renovations to make downtown a place families want to spend time.

3. All 4 Wiregrass community colleges cleared of bomb threats (wdhn.com) — Wallace Community College’s Dothan campus was evacuated Wednesday after a bomb threat, but officials now say all four affected Wiregrass community college campuses have been cleared. Classes at Wallace in Dothan are canceled for the rest of Wednesday and will resume Thursday, while investigators continue looking into any possible connection between the threats at Dothan, Enterprise, Andalusia, and Opp.

WIREGRASS' BEST: Dothan's Brown, PCS' Hughes named tennis players of year (dothaneagle.com) — Dothan tennis fans can celebrate junior Ella Brown, who earned the 2026 Dothan Eagle Girls Tennis Player of the Year award after a 20-3 season and deep postseason run. Providence Christian’s Jackson Hughes also claimed Boys Player of the Year, capping a 27-3 season and a state singles title as both Wiregrass standouts continued their dominance.
