• Linda Lee Slawson (laclederecord.com) — Grant residents are mourning the passing of 86-year-old Linda Lee Slawson, a longtime community member with close family still living in town. Services will be held Sunday, October 4, in Missouri, and friends and relatives can honor her through memorial contributions and by signing the online guest book. 
• Spain Park anglers win high school fishing tournament on Lake Guntersville (hooversun.com) — Local anglers from Grant's DAR Patriots Fishing Club placed fifth at a major high school tournament on Lake Guntersville, earning a coveted spot in the 2027 national championship. Competing against teams from several states, they weighed in an impressive 18 pounds, 5 ounces of bass in the free, student-focused event.
