  1. 20 years after 9/11, Dr. Steve Gorelick, the author of an article called “The Cops from Madison, Alabama” for “Chicken Soup for the Soul of America” remembers eight law enforcers from Madison, Alabama. Marcus Adams, Jim Cooke, Jason Fox, Clayton Jordan, Trey Street, and the late Adam Vaughn, Steve Wilkerson, and Wayne Kamus made an impact by going to New York City to lend a hand September 12, and made a lifetime impact.   2. Former Naval Flight Officer Will Dossel took time this week to talk to ROTC students at Hazel Green High School. While the students were born after the attack, Dossel educated them and talked about his time that day since he was working at the Pentagon. (WAAY)
  3. Jaylen Ware, a current UAH student and New Century grad, was surprised by Oprah Winfrey! Ware was in the final round of interviews for the Oprah Winfrey Leaders Scholarship (OWLS), when Winfrey showed up and sang a welcome song for Ware and for the other finalists during their interviews.   4. Fantasy Playhouse will open this season with opens season with “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The show is open October 15-17, so grab your tickets soon! (themadisonrecord.com)
  5. A Huntsville favorite got a 65 on their latest health inspection. Connor’s Steak and Seafood at Bridge Street received the low score, which meant a follow-up inspection two days later at which point the issues were solved. The 65 will stand until their next routine inspection. (WAFF)
