- A Sunday shooting at the Bama Lanes bowling alley in Montgomery left one person dead and six others injured. Police and fire medics responded to a call around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning in reference to a shooting at the alley. There, they found 21-year-old Jeffrey Reed of Montgomery with a fatal gunshot wound. Police arrested 23-year-old Tory Johnson of Montgomery for one count of murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and four counts of second-degree assault. (WSFA 12)
- Celebrate Martin Luther King Day in Montgomery with the city's official parade on Monday, Jan. 17. The parade will take place downtown on Dexter Avenue from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The multitude of bands, floats, and walkers will celebrate the work of Martin Luther King and his legacy of the beloved community. - The Alabama House is looking to abolish concealed handgun permits as it kicks off the 2022 Legislative Session tomorrow, but Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham is speaking out against the proposed move. As a law enforcement professional, Sheriff Cunningham says he believes public safety would be at risk if the legislation passes, as "anyone would be able to carry a gun with no background check."
