Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:
- Montgomery weather sirens mistakenly went off earlier than scheduled on Wednesday. The sirens were originally set to go off at 3:00 p.m. but residents were stunned when the sirens went off at 3:00 a.m. Multiple viewers called the WSFA12 newsroom to ask about the weather sirens issue. - Some Montgomery residents are still dealing with damages from the severe weather that hit the area on Tuesday. Assessments are still being conducted in counties across central and south Alabama, including in Montgomery County. Reports of uprooted trees, home damage, downed powerlines, and forestry damage have been filed. (WSFA12 News)
- The new superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools will be named on Friday. The announcement will be made during a special meeting of the Montgomery County School Board at 11:00 a.m. The decision will be selected from the four final candidates: Dr. Melvin Brown, Dr. Anthony Lewis, Dr. Marla Shepherd, and Dr. Donald Warren.
