Here are the top 2 stories in Montgomery today:

  1. Four teenage suspects have been arrested and charged with a number of crimes committed in Montgomery in the new year. The only suspect to be identified is 16-year-old Zachary Estes; the other three are juvenile males and are not being publicly identified. All four are charged with first-degree robbery for a crime that happened on Sunday afternoon; the three juveniles are also facing multiple charges for two other incidents that also took place on Sunday. (WSFA 12)
  2. On Wednesday, Republicans in the Alabama House of Representatives stated that abolishing the concealed handgun permit requirement will be a top priority in the upcoming legislative session. The proposed legislative agenda includes "constitutional carry" legislation that eliminates the requirement to get a permit to carry a concealed handgun in public. The backing increases the chances of approval for this proposal, which has previously failed in Montgomery due to opposition from state sheriffs. (NBC 15 News)
