- Amazon has announced plans to open three new operations facilities in Alabama, which will be located in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Huntsville. Next year, the company will also open the Montgomery Receive Center, which will allow the company to "consolidate items from vendors and facilitate shipment to fulfillment centers." Ultimately, this statewide expansion will create 900 new jobs, with plans to add more than 500 new full-time positions before the end of the year. (Yahoo! News)
- A child who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon has died, according to the Montgomery Police Department. 10-year-old Messiah Lawrence of Montgomery was rushed to a local hospital in life-threatening condition that afternoon and has since died from his injuries. The collision happened in the area of Augusta Avenue and Richmond Road, near the old Floyd Elementary School building. An investigation into the fatal collision is ongoing. (WFSA 12 News)
- Despite ongoing legal concerns, Baptist Health and Jackson Hospital will be complying with federal COVID-19 vaccination mandates. (WSFA 12 News)
