Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:
- A Montgomery man faces multiple charges after forcing his way into his child's mother's home and assaulting her boyfriend with a firearm. Deanthony Haigler, 32-years-old, proceeded to steal the victim's personal items totaling over $4,000. He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on $120,000 bail while awaiting trial on domestic violence, burglary, and robbery charges. (WSFA12 News)
- The Alabama House in Montgomery has approved the Education Trust Fund for $8.125 billion. The fund approves a teacher salary increase and additional funding for reading & science programs. The budget bill passed with only one House member voting against it - Rep. Andrew Sorrell. (Montgomery Advertiser)
- A group representing privately owned liquor stores is threatening to sue the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control board for soliciting bids from alcohol delivery contractors. The group is arguing that the action is illegal and would force many privately owned stores to close. The group is yet to file its lawsuit against the board. (CBS 42)
