Here are the top 3 stories in Montgomery today:
- Recent winter storms have caused power outages in Montgomery County. Approximately 350 energy customers went without power on Thursday. Across the state, 1,480 customers were without power during the storms. (WSFA12 News)
- The U.S. Supreme Court is considering Alabama's request to freeze a court order that requires the state to draw new congressional district lines. The request asks the state to create a second district that holds a significant amount of Black voters within it. The request was issued by a three-judge panel that said the current districting map violates the Voting Rights Act. (US News And World Report)
- According to Montgomery real estate leader, the housing market in the area is very brisk. Bo Evans, president of the Montgomery Area Association of REALTORS, says there is a lack of inventory in the housing market which is causing the increase in housing prices. It is also difficult for homebuilders currently due to supply chain issues that have increased the costs of building materials. (WFSA12 News)
