Here are the top three stories in Montgomery today:
- A Montgomery native and ASU graduate is the star of Netflix's hottest new show. Charlie Hudson III stars as Steven Turner in "Archive 81," which quickly reached the top spot on the platform in its first season. According to Netflix, the horror fiction show follows an archivist who takes a job restoring damaged videotapes "only to be pulled into the vortex of a mystery involving the missing director and a demonic cult." - An off-duty Montgomery police officer was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Officer Robert Chapman, who has been with the Montgomery Police Department since 2002, was immediately relieved of his duty and placed on administrative leave. (WSFA 12 News)
- Alabama lawmakers came together this week to plan how to spend over $700 million in last year's COVID relief funds. The money has been divided into several categories, including $276 million for broadband expansion, $151 million for healthcare, and $225 million for clean water and sewer projects. (CBS 42)

- Montgomery's official homicide rate for 2021 has gone up from 76 to 77. This increase comes after a Friday morning arrest was made in connection to an October death investigation, which prompted a reclassification of the case. (WSFA 12 News)
- A 70-year-old inmate serving at the minimum security Red Eagle Work Center has passed away after suffering a medical episode, during which he was taken to another correctional facility instead of one of Montgomery's nearby hospitals. (AL Reporter)
- Montgomery Public Schools and Alabama State University are teaming up to give COVID-19 shots to eligible children ages 5-11. The next clinic will be held on Friday, Jan. 28 in the Lockhart Gym on ASU's campus. (Facebook)
