Here are the top three stories in Montgomery today:

  1. The Supreme Court's decision to halt efforts to create a second majority Black congressional district in Alabama sparks national concerns about the Voting Rights Act. Black voters are 26 percent of Alabama's electorate and conservative map drawers have taken their voting power and consolidated it into one congressional district. The new concerns come at the heels of the failed federal elections bill from last month. (AP News)
  2. A 16-year-old Montgomery boy has been charged with shooting a girl. According to Montgomery Police, Curtis London shot a girl in the 1100 block of Ryan Street. The girl is currently being treated at a local hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. (Alabama News Network)
  3. Montgomery Police Department is searching for a man who reportedly robbed a store at gunpoint. The suspect dressed wore a curly wig and women's clothes during the robbery. The incident occurred at the 10000 block of Chantilly Parkway and the items stolen were outdoor tools. (WSFA News)
