Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:

  1. Members of Alabama Arise Action and Alabama lawmakers plan to rally on the front steps of the Alabama State House in Montgomery. They are working to raise awareness of multiple bills seeking to end the state's sales tax on groceries. According to the rally organizers, the grocery sales tax is a regressive tax that increases hunger rates while propelling Alabama families further into poverty. The rally will take place at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow, Mar. 15. (Elmore Autauga News)
  2. Yesterday marked the two-year anniversary of Alabama's first confirmed COVID-19 case. On March 13, 2020, a Montgomery citizen was the first recorded Alabama positive infection case of the pandemic. Since the pandemic began, more than 1.2 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Alabama. (WSFA12 News)
